Our library is a friendly place where our community is inspired and challenged to think critically, read widely, act ethically, value creativity and defend the right to access information.

Our librarian believes that:

  • Reading is a window to the world.
  • Inquiry provides a framework for learning.
  • Ethical behaviour in the use of information must be taught.
  • Technology skills are crucial for future employment needs.
  • Equitable access is a key component of education.

With thousands of titles in more than 6 languages, the International School of IITA library is well resourced. We strive to bring all members of the IITA School community together, offering a wide variety of reading choices, whether purely for pleasure or for teaching and learning. The Library offers author visits, and other activities as well as 2 annual book fairs.

Students can check out materials during scheduled sessions as well as during recess, lunch, and after school. Students come to the library and support each other as they prepare for varied assessments. Students use the library to support their understanding of different Central Ideas in the Units of Inquiry.

Parents also are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of the ample resources and check out materials for their personal and family use. We also use the library for PTA meetings, Parent Workshops and information evenings.
